Supporting Pets Beyond Adoption Day
Rescue organizations do important work preparing pets for adoption, yet many challenges emerge after a pet enters a new home. Changes in environment, routine, expectations, and caregiver dynamics can all impact a pet’s nervous system.
During this adjustment period, pets may appear withdrawn, anxious, hyper alert, reactive, unsettled, or difficult to soothe. These responses are often misunderstood as behavior problems, when they are more accurately signs of nervous system overload.
Pet Tranquility offers rescues a way to support adopters through this phase by reframing early challenges as part of a normal regulation and adjustment process. When adopters understand what their pet’s nervous system needs, they are better able to respond with patience, consistency, and confidence.
Supporting regulation early helps reduce pressure on pets, adopters, and rescue teams alike.
The JPotter Health Approach
Pet Tranquility is part of the broader work of JPotter Health, where the focus is on nervous system regulation, stress responses, and compassionate, science-based support.
Founded by Jackie Potter, an ICF-certified coach with training in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, the program applies regulation-first principles commonly used in human stress and anxiety work to support pets and the people who care for them.
This approach bridges research, lived experience, and practical guidance, helping caregivers feel informed, supported, and confident as they navigate stress, change, or adjustment with their pets.
